Jan. 7 – Jan. 11, 2013

Highlights of this Week:

We were all glad to be back at school!!  We worked on our snowmen and snowflakes.

Coming Up Next Week:

We will continue to learn about winter.  This week we will be learning about Eskimos, igloos,  cold weather clothes like mittens and gloves .  We will practice putting on jackets, gloves, mittens, scarves and hats.  We will be learning about hot and cold so we will be cooking s’mores and hot chocolate on Tuesday and snow cones on Thursday!!!  We will be working on our numbers 1-2-3.   We will also be getting a new classmate.  Liam will start this week.  We welcome him and his family to our school!

AN IMPORTANT FYI:

Due to the horrible event at Shady Hook Elementary School in Connecticut that happened before our winter break we met as a faculty to go over all drills and will occasionally  be practicing a “lock-down” drill.  In our class we will be calling it a “Quiet” drill and will practice it just like we do a fire drill.  I wanted to keep you informed in case your child comes home talking about it when you discuss what they did in class today.  We are going to keep this very low key and as non-scary as possible. Your child’s safety is very important to us!!!!  Please feel free to call me if you have any questions.

Home Learning Opportunities:

Practice with your child putting on and taking off your coat, scarf, gloves or mittens. Get your child to tell you which are mittens and which are gloves.
