Outer Space Fun!

We are continuing to have fun talking about the things in outer space… those things we can see and many things we can’t.

We have proportional planetary magnets that help us get an idea of what planets look like and also what some of their sizes may be in relation to the sun.  We enjoyed talking about all of their names, and used them as examples to do some of our own planet art work!

We have used large circle cut outs and paper plates as the background for our planet images.  Then we used a variety of methods to create our planets!  We finger painted and we also painted with brushes, spoons, and forks too!  Our painting media also varied.  We used finger painting paints, but we also added tempera, glitter, and textured paints to create the different colors and surfaces of the planets.  On some of them we also folded the planets in half to create an experiment with symmetry.  It was lots of fun!

Some of these planets combined with our confetti rockets that we made have created a lovely bulletin board in our class!  All of our kids are out of this world!

We wanted to remind our families that we do not celebrate Valentine’s Day in class, but we do try and talk about friendship and love often.  We make sure that we add ‘love’ to our chicken soup every week! 🙂

On February 14th we welcome all families to celebrate with us during our Shabbat program.  The kids have been working hard on special Shabbat keepsakes that you will hopefully use for years to come.

Enjoy the rest of your week!  See you tomorrow!
